About CIES New Scholars
Welcome all comparative and international development education (CIES) scholars. We are a group for all who are new to CIES. Whether you've been involved in CIES for the first time or even for several years, the new scholars committee hopes to serve the needs of the 50% of CIES membership who are new to this field. Welcome!
The New Scholars Committee promotes the participation and collegiality among new scholars in CIES through various programs and activities. The activities of the committee are designed to improve the participation of new scholars in the Society, to encourage contributions of new scholars to the Society and to facilitate network opportunities among new scholars and practitioners in the field.
During the CIES Conferences, the New Scholars Committee hosts:
- Essentials workshop for Masters and Doctoral students who have recently entered the field of Comparative and International Education studies. Everyone is welcome to attend essentials workshops no matter what stage you are in your involvement in comparative education.
- The Dissertation mentoring sessions (formerly called the dissertation workshop) is for students seeking a Ph.D. or Ed.D. to discuss their dissertation research with other students and a faculty mentor.
The CIES New Scholars Committee is a volunteer effort. If you are interested in assisting the CIES New Scholars Committee, please email newscholars.cies@gmail.com.
